PROJECT STATEMENT
The COT, a newly designed public library in the Meriam Park area will redefine what a library can be for their community by curating a space where one will feel enlightened, comfortable to study, collaborate, read, and lounge. It will be a landmark of Chico & will be suitable and ideal to not only those who live in the Meriam Park area but all the citizens of Chico. This library will welcome people of all ages, sex, race, and beliefs and encourages people to come together and become what Chico is made of - community.
DESIGN CONCEPT
Inspired by Chico's native trees and curvature of the rings of a tree stump, the COT embodies movement using organic lines to make up the structure of the library. The COT will have an art exhibition space where local artist can display, engage and, share their art with the community. The COT uses wood harvested from the native trees to Chico and is implemented into the design. This library will feature an art exhibition to display art from local artists and a cafe.
